Christer Björkman is Professor of Forest Entomology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. The research focuses on insect population dynamics, not least outbreaks of pests. By studying how climate and other factors affect the interaction between herbivorous insects, their host plants and natural enemies, we can investigate the mechanisms behind ups and downs, thus giving solid advice on how to manage forests to reduce the risk of insect damages.
